Treadmill Desk Update: 1 Year, 5 and 6 Months

I think the trend is clear that I'm really late with these updates when the news isn't so good.  This is not going to go down as my best period of accomplishment.  So let's rip off the band-aid and...

Ouch. Clearly I have recovered from my illness.

  • Hours: 2426
  • Hours/Day: 5.3
  • Steps: 8,537,750
  • Steps/Day: 18,682
  • Calories: 535,404
  • Calories/Day: 1,172
  • Calories/Hr: 220
  • Miles: 2839
  • Miles/Day: 6.2

I kinda know what's going on, and I kinda don't.  When I was sick, I was reduced to a liquid-only diet.  That went on for a couple of weeks, during which toast and yogurt were a welcome relief from chicken broth. I emerged from that ordeal with a serious lack of motivation to care about what I ate.  There were M&Ms, there were Pop Tarts, there was more eating out.  But there was also consistent walking.  My hours and steps per day went up.  So while I'm not at all surprised that there has been weight gain, I am surprised by how much there has been, and frustrated by how reluctant the weight is to come back off.

So I've been trying to get the eating levels back to normal. And I've been trying to increase my walking speeds. I'll run a timer, and change my speed every 20 minutes, usually upward.  Not really seeing results yet, but hopefully will soon.

In happier news, I recently bought some shorts with a waistline a full 4 inches smaller than the pants I bought before I got the treadmill.  So even though the weight numbers don't look so good, buying smaller clothing is definitely a good thing.
